Wedding Prep:

Typically people get engaged, plan a wedding for oh say... 6 months to a year, and then get married. Well we are not even close to "normal" and do things our own way... that's what makes life fun and interesting!
Lets go on an adventure...

Adam and I were engaged in 2007... eloped in 2009... and were blessed to have a wedding ceremony and reception on June 20Th, 2010. So it really took us THREE YEARS to get married!!

It all started in January of 2010 when I started dreaming wedding again. It was really important for us to have our families present and for our Pastor Carlo and his wife, Jean Ann, to be in our wedding as well. As Jean Anne completely understood why we wanted all of this wedding madness to begin again she eloquently said that "we wanted a witness, before our Almighty God and our families." This was exactly it. She nailed it! So let the planning begin... again... for the fifth or sixth time!

Everything happens for a reason and really God does know what's going on and has His time for everything... surprise surprise. For the first time the planning and checking dates and figuring out venues were smooth like buttuh. God had orchestrated it all and things were gently falling into place. (FINALLY!!) hahaha

I will admit there were definitely still stressful times! After all thats who I am... I'm a worrier (there I said it! I admit it!) But somehow things still kept moving foreward. I was ready for something to go wrong like Adam not being granted his leave time to come to California (we didn't know for sure until the week of) or my dress wouldn't fit or a million other things that could possibly go wrong. And i thought of all of them and worried about every single last detail.
But it is amazing to have a wedding "all-star team" around us for support, prayers, and helpful hands!!

Once I arrived in Roseville, Carlo and another one of his "adopted kids" (FYI being a college pastor... Carlo and Jean Anne have pretty much adopted a church-full of kids! And we are all blessed to have them as our mentors and Spiritual leaders) Picked me up at the airport and reminded me that God's got everything under control... and if something goes wrong... theres nothing i could do about it now! :D

After picking up a borrowed truck from Adam's previous boss (Thanks MR. and MRS. Swanson!! This was a huge blessing!!) I made my way towards wedding work. Joyanne was ready to spend the day with me running random errands while my brain was trying to keep up with California traffic! We were singing some soul music dancing around in the truck the whole day through. Thats my soul sistah right there! Singing songs from the Temptations and Aretha Franklin really do have a calming effect on a crazed bride!

Soon some family arrived... My dad and Mom, Tita Celly and L.P. And all the eating and working began! We were like a filipino sweatshop working from dawn till dusk! But the food was amazing so i couldn't complain!! hahaha I am so proud to say that our wedding team was able to build and create everything for the wedding and reception. From the wedding cake (thanks Maria and Nicole!) to the floral arrangements and may i add.. we were FIERCE AND FABULOUS doing it!! Thats right!

Jaqi arrived next and helped even more in calming me down. Her constant note taking was a lifesaver since my brain was already fried! She helped us stay on track and remember all the little details that had to be done like um..."JC aren't you supposed to pick up your WEDDING DRESS today?! Or... do we have pens for people to sign the picture board? Or even better... "JC... your turning BLUE... you need to BREATHE!!"

After that Maria and Nicole came and they worked on their baking skills till they were colapsed on the floor! But the cake looked and tasted amazing!! Maria was always ready to take great pictures with her amazing camera and Nicole was always prepared with coffee and a hug... or you know maybe a shot or two... Those are my girls! Might i add... Nicole's creative skills came out when making floral arrangements when she would proudly lift a finished beauty up and say... "yup that one's mine! Isn't it just beautiful?!?!" lol

Our wedding planner Mo and ieleen taught us how to make the flower arrangements and the end product was a day filled with flowers and lots of fun! Everywhere i turned people were helping out with a smile and enjoying spending the time together. Mo kept saying to me in surprise.."wow there is really no drama here! All these girls are actually helping out... I can't believe it!" Those girls are my A-Team... the friends that I can always count on the family that i've made through the years...

The Commute

I started working last week with a 45min commute one-way. At first the commute was something that i despised but recently, i've realized that it is actually an opportunity. I have always seen God through nature, and the views and majestic moments He has given me through this drive has been a reminder of the times i can remember Him. Through the rush to get to work on time to coming home extremely tired, there is always time to worship.

Heart-Strings

I remember when i was in high school and counting down the days till i would be "18" because that would mean that i was a grown up. Yea, right! Then when 18 came i began that countdown to '21' because that was when i would be legal for everything!
Now at 22, I am an adult and even though it's been fun, all the responsibilities are a downer. For example: cleaning out the lint trap in the dryer! Now who wants to do that?! :D

At this point in my life i am at a crossroads, or so it seems. I'm happily married, a college graduate.... NOW WHAT? I find myself questioning what i should be doing next, I have a desire to be helping people. To do something of importance and significance. Only in doing something like that will i feel fulfillment.

Don't get me wrong, I love my life and i am thankful for it... theres just something tugging at my heart and I'm definitely searching for what that could be.
I guess I'm sharing this with all of you, whomever may be reading this, because I need prayer. I'm usually not too open about this kind of thing but, I know that God is working on our hearts (Adam and Mine) for a big change so I'm reaching out to our families to keep us in your prayers. We are seeking His guidance, assurance, and strength in whatever may happen next.

Christmas Time is Here... and Gone!

Merry Belated Christmas to all our Family and Friends!
Adam and I love Christmas... I don't know what it is about this holiday but I think it really is our favorite. I love this season because it reminds me of an older more simpler time like the period from the original movie "Miracle on 31st Street". of course there's family and great food and tons of fun but it's just a great time to be around the people that you love and eat all the food that you love too! :D
My parents came to visit us in windy Wyoming and we enjoyed having them here! My Christmas wish of having a white Christmas came true with a snowstorm! It was snowing for 2-3 days straight and then the wind came and kept coming! But even though it huffed and puffed it did not blow our house down!
The next few days were filled with cooking and quality kitchen time. We played a lot of games together like guesstures taboo and catch phrase! Good times!
Lily was exceptionally happy having four people pay their undivided attention to her and feeding her and petting her... now she's spoiled and expects me to pet her all the time! Can you say high-maintenance? hahaha you'd think she was from California or something being so prissy! ah hahaha
On Christmas day we invited all of Adam's single friends from work to share a late lunch and hang out for the day. It was a lot of fun having the house full of people. It reminds me of my parents house when they would always invite people over for meals and the search to find enough chairs for everybody was always fun too! There was enough seating for everybody and definitely enough food, we're still eating the leftovers!
Even though Christmas is over Adam will not let me take down any of the decorations! I have a feeling we'll be one of those families that will have our christmas lights still on for Valentines day! Oh man... We'll see if i can convince adam to take down at least the tree this weekend. it's starting to brown and look like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree... It's already fulfilled it's christmas destiny so now it's off to the chopper for you tree! :(
As for New Years... I completely forgot today was new years eve until my Mom asked me what our plans were... "Plans? For what?" Yea we're simple country folk here... no fireworks (the wind won't permit it) and the c-antelope would freak out and maybe start a stampede! I think we may just have a few people over and hang out. I'll figure out something to cook.. maybe take out the leftover from Christmas! hahaha
We have missed all of you: our family and friends and hope that your holidays have been as wonderful as ours!

I know it's a very delayed post! Sorry! Who knew that being a 'house wife' would be such a demanding job? :D haha
well The Philippines was such an amazing and unexpected trip. Being in the military we're getting used to living our lives through the painstaikingly annoiying process of 'hurry up... and wait'. URG! The good news is that for this trip, everything worked out and I am learning that you can't really plan every second of your life... sometimes it's just better to let God do the planning and to just sit back and see what He has in store. He is making me spontaneous again... Adam and I used to be spontaneous but then my micro-managing got in the way of that...
ANYWAYS....I digress.. oh yes! the Philippines!
We were able to spend 10 days in the P.I. where Adam was able to meet the Chua family (Mom's side) and of course, my 'Pata' and Lola Evaline. (Dad's side) We ate so much food and even though the trip was on overdrive and rushing from one place to the next, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and soaked up all the family we were suddenly surrounded by. It was great being around family again.
I will try and give you all little 'insights' or short 'blurps' on stories from our trip. Hopefully i'll remember them all!

FLIGHT FROM SFO TO JAPAN = 12 hrs
*Poke Poke Poke* Adam... ADAM! WAKE UP!!
adam: huh what?
jc: you have been sleeping the WHOLE FLIGHT and i am B-O-R-E-D BORED!!

Arriving in Manila:
Adam: hungry and tired... where's the AIR CONDITIONING?!?!
JC: I'm cold turn it OFF!! ooh i want JOLLIBEE!! (Filipino version of McDonalds... wayyy better!)

Banka (boat) ride to Mindoro:
Lola Evaline:(on the phone) so you're sure the typhoon is out of the area?
JC: (whispering to adam) typhoon?!?! i think we can wait another day... yes lets wait another day to take the little tiny boat through the raging typhoon.
ON THE BANKA:
JC: where... is... my...DRAMAMINE!!
Adam: zzzzZZZZZZzzzZZZZZ < yup he fell asleep...

MINDORO:
Adam: So... your Pata is pretty much the 'Godfather' huh?
JC: yup. 'He'll give you an offer you can't refuse' lol haha

SNORKLING:
JC: Why is the ocean so dirty?! *putting on snorkels* Holy Moly! JELLYFISH!
ADAm: Lets keep swimming they will go away
*it didn't get better... it got worse...
Adam: See? they aren't stinging you... you'll be fine!
JC: OUCH! oh the irony... good timing jellyfish!

MANILA:
Adam: could we please not go to SM Megamall (Gigantic mall) i don't want to get lost like when i was 8...
JC: Ok no prob. (sorry :( we ended up going our last day... but i didn't lose him! no way! Adam held onto my pinky the whole time and wouldn't let go while i weaved through the crowds of people)

Adam's Birthday:
Pata: I will take you out to dinner for your birthday adam (told you... and offer he couldn't refuse! haha) :D
We ate at my Pata's favorite japanese restaurant the food was great! Adam was finally full! (a rare occurrence) lol
During Dinner:
Pata - adam you want another beer... waiter get him another beer! (x's 2)

When Filipino's feed you and feed you and feed you.. this is the biggest compliment that you can receive from them. Adam never went hungry the duration of our stay... :D

Flight Back to SFO:

JC: yup i slept the whole way.... sweet amazing sleep!

Present Time:
We just spoke to Pata tonight as we miss him very much... He told me (jc) "I really like adam... I approve!"

We are so grateful that we were able to go on this trip because it was very important that Adam meet the family and especially Pata since he is Grandpa. It was an unforgettable trip and a place we would both love to go back to again... Thanks for the prayers of safe travels.. we are home and so happy to be sleeping in our own bed again.. even with Lily taking up most of the room!

We are going to the Philippines tomorrow for about 10 days! We're super excited and can't wait to see everybody again... and of course eat all the yummy food! We'll be back December 3rd. Please pray for safe travels!

I am blessed! Absolutely for sure without a doubt completely and utterly blessed to have our family... yes we're odd and like weird food and live in all the corners of the world (Alaska and Kenya i mean seriously... you can't make this stuff up!) :D But man do i love this crazy loud, food loving, hugging, movie watching family of ours. It's tough to get into the family but once your in... your in it for life!

My Daddi came to visit a few days ago. And it was awesome! He brought Lily back to us and for adam... well he got his dream truck.... from his Father-In-Law. It's loud and manly and has a diesel engine but adam... is: in LOVE. (i feel like i should grunt here) My Dad and Adam were like two little boys playin with this toy. It's a Ford F-350 and it's great! ...until it decided not to start today. I think that truck actually lashed out because my dad left this morning and it misses him. Lily and I miss him too since we're both just laying in bed today... There's nobody like my Daddi... and i love that about him! We miss you!

My Mommi wasn't able to make this trip because of work but she was on the phone with us nonstop so it felt like somehow she was here! hahaha Missed you! and wish you were here... Soon hopefully you can meet the c-antelope yourself! Thanks for the cute magnets and everything else! Now i can actually cook rice! (I will be a good housewife yet!) haha

Thanks to Don & Ron for the furniture.... man i have good 'boss-men'! We really appreciate it and now have more seating in the house then we know what to do with! if you guys ever come over that couch has your name on it!

And to Tita guy... im eating the food from the gods now... it's a great breakfast! healthy too right? ;)

This may seem off topic... but it isn't. Just keep reading:

So as many people know, our truck was broken into on our way to Wyoming. God was watching out for us though since the thieves took random items that were more of sentimental value then cash value (books, yearbooks, and our whole kitchen).

Anyways... our pastor Carlo and his Wife Jean Anne gave us a book before we left for Wyoming called 'Humility'. Its been on my mind lately about starting over, moving away from the materialism that encapsulates California and starting anew. Becoming and learning to become humble in our beginnings.

We painted a saying on our bedroom wall in Sacramento and it's says: 'With Each Sunrise we start Anew'.

Those thieves gave us our new sunrise.

As we grieved over the things that were stolen, I've been reminiscing about what really matters on this earth and that to me it is our families, extended family, and even the random twice removed through marriage of the second 'branch' cousins! So.. to our families both sides and everybody in between. We love you, we thank you for all that you have done for us, and we are proud to call you our own.

A lifetime of love and bonds that will go on forever (wheather you like it or not! your stuck with us!) :D

Alaska Built Tough

Living in Alaska is something that I will never forget. You learn great things there like how to swerve your truck (In Alaska we only have trucks) in 'black ice' so you wont hit the moosies that love to take their sweet time to cross the road. You would think with such long legs they would move a little faster... no?

I loved growing up in Fairbanks and experiencing the frozen desert i like to call Home. It's such a coincidence that after i moved to Cali to 'thaw out' and began enjoying the heat and sunshine... we moved to WYO country where snow storms will come unexpected and the whole town shuts down. I'd like to think that life is slower here and unlike Cali, people probably shut the town down on purpose so we could all enjoy the snow and maybe have a snowball fight or hang out with the kids that turned old cardboard boxes into the best sleds everrr! Its about a slower pace of life, not about the newest Coach Fall Collection. (Purses... BEAUTIFUL Purses) :D What can i say... i'm a faircalibanksan!

One thing i've remembered from living in Alaska are simple yet dire things to do to survive and enjoy snow times:

1 - if you think people are at your door listen for the slight *thump thump* they are usually banging their boots on your doorstep to get the snow off. Its the knocking style of snow days :D

2 - make sure to plug your truck in if you're leaving it out at night! and don't forget to make the windshield wipers stand up so they don't freeze to the windshield!

3 - oh and my favorite! We're used to pipes freezing in Alaska where it gets down to -60f... last weekend when there was a snow storm and temperatures hit a WHOPPING 23f (yes above zero) the housing office on base made sure to remind everybody to keep the water running flush the toilets all the time keep the faucets on overnight......YEA... RIGHT...

One thing that i did notice here is the true character of people from Cheyenne. Going for a grocery run to 'stock up' (recommendation from Adam's Commander) we saw about 3 or 4 cars stuck in the snow. The tow trucks weren't running that day either. People were helping strangers. Aside from us, there were immediately four other cars, trucks, and SUV's pulling over to help push, pull, shovel, and tow out every single one of these snow engulfed vehicles. This is a good place.

Lets Take A Walk...

"Look out the window! It's SNOWING!!"

You would think with all of our excitement that we've never experienced snow... i mean what IS all that white fluffy stuff floating around?! :D It's the first snow for us in Cheyenne, and it's topping the charts promising to go on for 3 days straight and be about 20 inches!! We're EXCITED!! Like little kids excited for Christmas excited! Like squealing while clapping your hands frantically (like my mom) jumping up and down kind of excited!!

I love the snow and it's been a few years since I've had the chance to live around it . One thing different about the Cheyenne grade of snow is that it is extremely soggy and perfectly made for SNOWBALLS!!

Adam & I along with Ryan & Kim went for a walk in the fresh batch of snow. The first snowball was thrown (i have good aim and got Adam right in the face! yes!!!) final score: Adam - 1 JC - 2

I rock!

After Kim exclaimed with utter seriousness "MY FOREHEAD HAS A BRAINFREEZE!!" we made the mad dash back to the warmth of the house.. and some good old hot choco...

It's starting to feel home.

The Cantelopes!

See the resemblance? This is what the thin Wyoming air has done to my brain!

Adam and I have safely arrived to our new 'home home on the range...' in Cheyenne Wyoming.

Upon driving into the town we were promptly greeted by the ever famous 'Wyo wind'. Where bumper stickers claim that 'the wind goes faster then my truck'. YEE-HAW!

Here are some fun facts that I have shrewdly observed in the past week:

Cheyenne facts: -Horses outnumber people

-Cows outnumber horses

-Antelope outnumber all of the above.... COMBINED

Adam has started his job in the *M.M.T tool room where his day begins at 0430 (thats 4:30 a.m.) and ends at 1300 (1:00 p.m.). He will probably be assigned to the tool room from 6 months to a year. The M.M.T. teams consist of 5 men and there are probably only 4 teams at this base. Since the M.M.T. field is so limited, there is a usual wait for newbies like Adam to get on a team.

My days have consisted of being a housewife! And no it is not as glamorous as 'the real housewives of New Jersey'. **Kim and I spend our days on the couch in our oversized and completely comfortable sexy grey elastic band mid-rise sweatpants (ooooh yeaaa) with remnants of cherry dilly bar somewhere either on our shirt or our chins. Thats Hot!

We move into our on-base house this thursday October 29th! Soon my days will be filled with making the basic egg-white colored walls of our house seem different and unique. With on-base housing making it unique and 'ourspace' will be fun and challenging. Pictures will soon follow!

We miss our friends and family very much... I definitely have gotten a case of homesickness but am looking forward to new beginnings.
