Reminiscing through the memories on this blog, I am overjoyed by blessings in answered prayer {referring to Feb. 10, 2010 "Heart-Strings"}. Today that calling, the tugging on my heart-strings, has been ultimately answered. I received a beautiful piece of paper in the mail; my teaching credential. It's amazing that in just three short years God worked miracles and revealed His plans for me (Jer. 29:11). Those years were exhilarating, exhausting, and intuitive. I shouldn't call it 'my' teaching credential for there were many people involved in this success. To all of you that have encouraged, given me tough love, driven to Scottsbluff (for a class), fed me, and prodded me on; I thank you.
The next part of this journey takes me to a school that I have fallen in love with, Burns JR/SR High School. I'll be starting as an English teacher in January (the timing of all of this is a God-thing in itself, but that's for another post). This is the school that after my first day of student teaching, asked me to be a long-term substitute as an English teacher. After one quarter of doing this, a parent told me at conferences that, "Teaching is what you HAVE to do. This is what you're MEANT to be doing!" The next semester I enrolled back in college to complete my teaching credential.
By the way, an important lesson in all of this (and the irony of it all) is that FAMILY KNOWS BEST. If I would've listened to family, I would've become a teacher about 6 years ago. Ah well, all in God's time.
A quick timeline of the events that led to this day:
-2009 Graduated college with an English Degree (but I didn't want to be a writer/teacher...figures)
-2010 Worked at Coach in Loveland, CO which ultimately led me to meeting Joy M. who is a brilliant scheming mind that saw the teacher in me. This meeting was a complete and total God-thing; the fact that we met in Loveland and both live in Cheyenne is a feat in itself. Factor in that Joy M.'s husband went to high school with the principle I'll be working with: MIND BLOWN.
-2011 Began substituting at Burns JR/SR High School, and asked to long-term substitute.
-2012 Began working on my Teaching Credential Degree
-2013 Graduated, received my Teaching Credential, and got a job at Burns.
"'For I know the plans I have for you,'” says the Lord. “'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'" - Jeremiah 29:11, NLT

Beautiful post, JC! God is good...all the time!
