You are amazing…Remember that today. Remember that when
you’re on two hours of sleep and you definitely look it. Remember that when
you’re juggling everything in life and you just need five more hands to keep
everything in the air. Remember that when all you need is just one more cup of
coffee and you've run out of filters. When the last think that you need after
successfully changing the umpteenth dirty diaper, realizing it got on the
changing table, and your hands.
Why is it that as women, wives, mamas, we allow the pressure
to get to us? Why is there so much pressure in the first place? Pinterest is
wonderfully dreadful as it shows thousands of ways to organize your home and be
perfect in every way, shape, and form, but then…who has the time to perfectly
fold every single pleat on a bed skirt? I mean really? If you've got that much
time c’mon over to my house! There’s tons of work to be done here!
Sadly, I believe that we put the pressure on ourselves. We
can blame it on the media, on pinterest, on other ‘perfect’ posing mamas; but
shouldn't we take account of the way we’re allowing the world to make us feel?
There is a saying going around which brings on a batch of
fresh truth:
Excuse
the mess, we’re busy making memories.
In my quest to love fully and extravagantly, do the piled
dishes really matter because I’m spending time playing with my son? Does the
clean, but unfolded laundry on the bed, dare steal the memories I’m making with
my friends and family?
Today, I choose to
not put on the façade that my house is “perfect” but instead declare that our
family lives our lives in adventure and beautiful messes.
